The Guest Book

A ledger going back to 1902. Everyone who walks the path signs the back of it before they leave. Tonight your initial goes on the page. That is the ritual.

Your initials, and nothing else. Write your initials and, if you like, a line. No surname, no email, no photograph of you. Not signing is a complete choice — the walkthrough does not ask twice.

Sign the ledger

The ledger is the pinned post at the top of our Facebook page. Leave a comment with your initials — A.B. — and, if you want, one line about what you heard.

It takes about ten seconds. Your initial stays on the record for good: next October it will still be here.

If you would rather not sign online

Leaving a comment on Facebook needs a Facebook login. If you do not have one, would rather not use it, or simply want to write it in ink — there are two composition notebooks at the gate. One as you go in, one as you come out. Same ledger, same initials, same line.

Signing is not a condition of entry. Nobody keeps a list of who did not sign.

The photographs

When you get home, put a picture in the album pinned at the top of the page. The ones worth keeping end up here, and the record grows every year.

What is kept, and for how long

Nothing is collected on this website. There is no account to make here, no email list, and nothing is tracked about who looked at what. The comment you leave on the page stays a comment on the page. If you would like yours taken down, say so and it comes down.
